  • I installed VFIZ computer but can't activate it (e.g. I can only see OILT & CLT in RDS area, wiperstalk and/or FIS just behave as hang after activation try ) ?
    • Remember, You usually need to perform Instrument Cluster's configuration extend (to add Navigation or Telematic equipment):
    • in case of Audi make adaptation channel modification (e.g. adaptation channel no. 62 set to 31 or 15 - swiss knife value)
    • in case of VW platform modify Instrument Cluster coding change (enable Navigation equipment e.g. +16 on most significant digits, Skoda need other value) 
  • I performed Instrument Cluster configuration change but can't activate device
    • in case of Multi Function Steering Wheel device can be activate by fast double press of Left Wheel button (normally used for Bluetooth operation)
    • in case of Navigation Panel double press of Navigation Panel Dial
    • in case of Wiper-stalk control VFIZ can be activated by double press of Up key (BEWARE in older firmwares this was Reset key)
    • in case of VW and derivative VFIZ device can be activate by double Reset press
  • How can I obtain firmware files ?
    • At the moment there is need to send email request to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. In future there will be automated distribution of firmware files.
  • Does all hardware version are supported by firmware upgrades
    • Yes, all version of VFIZ devices are continuously supported including first ones (started in 2008 year).
  • Will VFIZ work with Color FIS when initial order was for RED FIS and vice versa (Audi)
    • Yes it will work after change/upgrade of VFIZ firmware. Firmware change can be performed by user.
  • There is information that VFIZ is not compatible with Telematic, it means it is or is not compatible with Bluetooth/telephone interface ?
    • The VFIZ is compatible with Audi Bluetooth/telephone cooperation. Telematic is rare, independent system from Bluetooth/telephone interface.
    • Telematic is system for calling assistance in case of road accident (SOS button on interior lamp), it is not related with Bluetooth phone interface.
  • What is different between build variants, e.g. Standard and Extended
    • What is different between build variants, e.g. Standard and Extended
    • Most important support for external sensors, if you need to measure value for which there is no factory sensor installed (e.g. Oil Pressure)

  • How much refresh rate differs between Standard and Extended build ?
    • The measure values refresh rate is same for both versions.
  • Is it possible to upgrade VFIZ from Standard version to Extended
    • Yes, it is possible by using "Hardware upgrade program", you can exchange your device for better one for small surcharge.
  • What are control methods of VFIZ device
    • In case of Volkswagen alike cars MFA Wiper Stalk, in case of Audi A3 / A4  /A6 /A8:
    • Multi Function Steering Wheel (MFSW)
    • Navigation Panel near handbrake
    • Wiper Stalk (MFA)
  • What are pros and cons for different control methods in case of Audi
    • MFSW is definitely the best - you have all control just under left thumb and this is most comfortable during drive - without taking hand from steering.
    • Navi-Panel/Dial is second-good option, looks nice but need making additional wiring harness which is rather time consuming.
    • Multifunction Wiper Stalk - no special hardware needed. It is possible use MFA wiper stalk for user interface, it is less convenience that MFSW but it is usable (you have to detach hand form steering also you can accidentally hit into Instrument-Cluster factory menu). This method has some limitation though. If RDS area is used also for VFIZ output there can happen sporadic, periodic ghosting of Radio's RDS data. Secondary, you will sporadically call Instrument Cluster build FIS menu and this will overwrite VFIZ menu. After exit from Instrument Cluster menu VFIZ menu should be restored automatically in most cases.
    • Qmatis recommends MFSW steering wheel for VFIZ control :-) 
  •  What about RS4 Euro steering wheel ?
    • RS4 Euro steering doesn't have possibility to control RNS, Bluetooth, including volume. Keys on RS4 steering wheel have functionality keys of original wiper-stalk for MFA control Up/Down/Set (and this could be used also to VFIZ control). Fourth Steering Wheel key is for sport mode only. Fitting RS4 wheel in regular car has significant drawback in losing useful functionality. We belive emulating volume Up/Down on RS4 wheel can be developed for VFIZ but if more people will be interested.
  • Do you have instructions for hooking Navigation Panel with VFIZ  ? 
    • Navigation Panel wiring is described in Installation Manual you can download it from our web page. Complete wiring harness can be also ordered in our web store.
  • Is there need to have OEM Radio or MFSW ?
    • You don't need to have RNS-E or MFSW to use VFIZ
  • Is it possible to change control method by user (Audi) ?
    • There is need to exchange wiring harness and perform fimrware upgrade when changing control method between MFSW/NaviPanel and Wiper Stalk.
  • Is it possible to upgrade firmware by user ?
    • Yes, for this there is needed computer/laptop and USB cable or Bluetooth connectivity.
  • How data logging works
    • Data login broadcasts in real time user chosen engine parameters over Bluetooth to user computer. Data are sent in CVS format.
  • What for there is Bluetooth ?
    • The Bluetooth interface is dedicated to logging engine parameters and firmware update process.
  • Can VFIZs Bluetooth be used to mobile phone calls ? 
    • Unfortunately not, is dedicated to logging engine parameters and firmware update process.
  • My dedicated  EGT probe doesn't work - reads environment temperature only ? 
    • Please make sure you choose EGT from Ext section.
    • Please make sure you made correct connection polarity of EGT probe (if not sure just try to swap EGT wires).
    • In case further problems make sure that you have good probe, its output voltage is in 5 - 15 mV range while engine is idling and make sure that this voltage is also available on VFIZ connector screws. (EGT probe is source of very small voltage source not resisstive type. EGT doesn't need power supply to generate its output voltage. If you check continuity EGT probe should read as short or very small resistance. On cold engine EGT probe will not generate any voltage)
  • Are there games for VFIZ planned
    • No, because VFIZ is not planned to be toy.
  • What for is GPS in VFIZ ?
    • Internal GPS module is meant for measuring exact speed (tachometer speed has inaccuracy about 5-7%), distance, and it is planned to be used for measuring quarter mile time in future. It has no external output, there is only need to connect external GPS antenna. GPS module is not associated with Navigation units at all.
